What's IdeaLab! ?



IdeaLab! is Europe's premier student-led startup conference designed to connect young founders with top-tier investors and startup-interested students with forward-thinking companies.

Why should I attend?



Here are five great reasons to visit IdeaLab!:

When will the event take place?



This year's IdeaLab! Conference will take place on the 7th and 8th of October 2022.

Will the event take place online or in person?



Due to the positive development of the Covid 19 pandemic, IdeaLab! 2022 will be able to take place in person! We are very excited to welcome you all on campus. We have lots of cool stuff planned, so look forward to it! Of course, there will be an elaborate hygiene concept to guarantee everyone the greatest possible safety.

What are the Covid safety Measures during the Event?



At the moment this can’t be anticipated yet, however, there will be updates available soon.

How will I receive my ticket?



You will receive a confirmation email for the event. There is no need to present this for entry on the day, as the Events Team will have your registration details on file.

I can not attend the Event in person - are the speeches recorded/streamed via zoom?



You can only watch the speeches in person.

Where will the event take place?



The IdeaLab! Conference will traditionally take place on the campus of WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management. This is located in Vallendar, a small town near Koblenz in Rheinland-Pfalz.

How many participants are expected?



We expect about 650 carefully chosen participants this year.

How does the application process work?



Please upload your CV, and we will review your application as soon as possible. For Startups, please upload your pitch deck, even if it's not updated yet. If you have updated the pitch deck send this to us via email to participants @idealab.io.

Can all applicants participate in the conference?



Unfortunately, this will not be possible. Due to the high demand, we can only admit a part of the applicants for this year's event. Nevertheless, we encourage you to submit your application, as we are looking forward to a diverse and exciting audience.

Do I have to register separately for certain activities?



Yes, you have to register/apply separately for certain activities like speeddating, workshops and the pitch battle.

Speeddating



There are two kinds of speeddating at IdeaLab!: Speeddating for students and young professionals, where you can connect with startups and VCs to get your next internship or even a job offer.
Speeddating for founders, where you can meet investors and pitch your ideas to them.This is followed by what we call “meet & raise”, where founders and investors can have further conversation about future partnerships.When you apply for IdeaLab! you have to state whether you’d like to participate in the speeddating. We will select participants based on their CV or on first come first serve.

Workshops



You have to register for workshops separately. The companies will select participants based on CV or first come first serve.

Pitchbattle



During the pitch battle startups can present their idea in front of an Audience. The winner will receive a price of "amount TBA".

Where will I be able to sleep?



During the conference you can stay in hotels or Airbnbs in Vallendar and the surrounding area.
Koblenz is easy to reach by train or by car.In addition, there is the possibility to stay overnight in the flats of other WHU students through our so-called "Schlafie"' system.
You will receive more detailed information about this in due time.

What language(s) do I need to be able to speak?



In any case, you should be able to fluently speak / understand English as our speeches / panels / workshops will be held in English…. German can be an advantage in some situations but is not mandatory.



We are looking forward to welcoming Robin Godenrath, Lukasz Gadowski, Sebastian Pollok, Soheil Mirpour, Manuel Müller, Verena Hubertz and some more exciting speakers at our conference this year.

How does Transportation to and from the event work?



Inside of Vallendar everything will be reachable by foot, all participants will also receive free transportation from and to the afterparty locations.We will also offer a fleet service to all speakers and sponsors.

What are satellite events?



Each year we host 4 satellite events in unique locations which are designed to help participants connect and engage in an inspiring and international environment. These events are half-day conferences in a smaller and intimate format than our main conference. We aim to connect the most motivated students around the world with successful founders and investors.

What is IdeaMatch! ?



IdeaMatch! is a tool, developed by the IdeaLab team, that connects founders, who share the same interests.If you have an Idea to start a business or just a field like artificial intelligence or design that you find interesting, you can use IdeaMatch! to connect with potential co-founders.
